“Cracks in reality that let things through from the other side”—- That’s an interesting way to view it.

I am enjoying this series, Steve. 😊

And I am wondering what inspired you to write about it.😇

As usual, it was a combination of different ingredients! (1) I wanted to write a story about that landscape: it's so remarkable, in a quiet, melancholy sort of way. (2) I was interested in the relationship dynamics of my characters: how a new relationship is often a 'leap of faith', the investment of trust and the capacity for misunderstanding. How it can open up new viewpoints on life. What happens when you're strongly attracted to someone, but you don't share their worldview, hardly at all? (3) I wanted a vehicle to riff freely on existential themes. I feel that our species is very much in its infancy, in terms of understanding the world we live in, but we tend towards arrogance – as youth so often does. At least, that's true at the pop science level. (4) I wanted to play with my readers' expectations in quite a mischievous and fun way, keep you all guessing!
