What’s the idea?

I know that some of my subscribers would like longer reads, so I’m launching the Friday Novella.

Definitions of a novella vary, but for me it’s a story of 15,000 words or more. That’s about a quarter as long as an average novel, but a lot longer than an average short story.

Novellas are my favourite fiction as a writer. They give me space for character and plot development, but don’t take forever to write!

They’re ideal for serialisation online, because they don’t take forever to read, either. I’ll publish each novella in about 15 weekly instalments. Each instalment will be about a 10-minute listen or read.

When will it start?

The Friday Novella starts on Friday 1 July 2022. The first two instalments will go out free on 1 and 8 July. After that, you’ll need a paid subscription to continue reading the novellas.

If you just want your free Tuesday tales, no problem. You don’t need to do anything. After 8 July I’ll only send the Friday Novella instalments to paid subscribers. I’m not going to clutter your email inbox 😊.

What will I get?

If you sign up, you’ll receive one chapter per week, every Friday (or two chapters, if they’re short ones). Just like Tall and Tiny Tales, the Friday Novella will comprise an illustrated text and a podcast episode.

Your subscription will support me in continuing to write and publish fiction online.

How much will it cost?

Five US dollars a month (that’s Substack’s minimum fee).
